About the event
Join us on Thursday 28th March for our next DevOps Exchange - Toronto event, hosted by Digital Transformation Experts, Adaptavist at their HQ in Downtown Toronto.
For this event, we welcome to the stage; Application Server Software company, Sysdig, leading Cloud Consulting and Solutions Provider, ScaleCapacity and our hosts at Adaptavist.
Curtis Collicutt from Sysdig will kick-off the event by explaining how we can defend ourselves whilst traveling through hyperspace at the speed of light using Falco, a cloud-native security tool which can perform threat detection on audit logs such as AWS Cloudtrail and help organisations keep up with the pace of modern cloud threats.
Next up, Bansi Delwadia will take the stage to cover the basics of CloudWatch and explore how to streamline monitoring in AWS environments using CloudWatch's features like metrics, logs, alarms, and dashboards.
Finally, we have Zain Mohammad from our hosts at Adaptavist. Zain will be demonstrating a simple but powerful technique which will enable you to streamline development testing through Automated Cloud9 Environments with CI/CD Toolchains and Github.
The event will consist of 3 x 20 minutes talks starting at 7pm. Refreshments will be provided, courtesy of Adaptavist!

We hope to see you all there!
Agenda:
6:30pm - Doors open for networking
7:00pm - Curtis Collicutt, Enterprise Sales Engineer @ Sysdig "Surviving in Attack HyperSpace: Leveraging Falco for Cloud Security"
There are many advantages to be gained from the use of the public cloud, speed being one of them. The interesting thing about the speed of the public cloud is that it can also be used by attackers. We have the ability to build infrastructure quickly and use public cloud APIs to get information about that infrastructure, but so do malicious actors.
So, how do we defend ourselves while traveling through hyperspace at the speed of light? One way is through the Open Source Falco project, which can perform threat detection on audit logs such as AWS Cloudtrail and help organisations keep up with the pace of modern cloud threats.
Bio: Curtis Collicutt works to make complicated software and systems safer and easier to use. He has spent his career managing complex infrastructure and applications, working to make them reliable and secure through the principles of automation and organizational models such as DevOps.
7:20pm - Bansi Delwadia, Cloud Engineer @ ScaleCapacity "Infrastructure Monitoring with AWS CloudWatch"
This talk will cover the basics of CloudWatch and explore how to streamline monitoring in AWS environments using CloudWatch's features like metrics, logs, alarms, and dashboards.
Attendees will learn best practices for setting up comprehensive monitoring solutions, optimizing resource utilization, and responding to anomalies, enabling proactive management and optimization for improved performance and reliability.
Bio: Bansi Delwadia, a Cloud Engineer at ScaleCapacity, has spent 2 years as an AWS Community Builder. Her expertise lies in DevOps workloads and crafting Serverless Applications on AWS.
7:40pm - Zain Mohammad, Senior DevOps Consultant @ Adaptavist "Streamlining Development Testing through Automated Cloud9 Environments with CI/CD Toolchains and Github" In this presentation, Zain demonstrates a simple but powerful technique to spin up an interactive test environment upon opening a merge request with a Git commit message like “test environment”. Walk away with a generic, ready-to-go technique to reduce toil (and improve Dev productivity), using a familiar cloud IDE (AWS Cloud9) and CI/CD toolchain.
Bio: Zain is a DevOps Consultant with The Adaptavist Group (TAG), growing upon previous experience as a DevOps Engineer, Developer, Production Support and Build & Release specialist. Zain relishes the opportunity to conduct Proof of Concepts (POCs) alongside Research & Development (R&D) work on the latest automation technologies.
