Marcia Villalba is a Developer Advocate for AWS and has been designing and developing software professionally for 15 years, working at all stages of building and scaling software. She has deep knowledge of building applications in the cloud and using DevOps processes.
Marcia is also and the host of FooBar, a Youtube Channel, where she publishes content related to serverless and the cloud. Her Channel has recently celebrated it's 10,000th subscriber, so we thought it was time to learn more.
What is FooBar? Foobar is a YouTube channel that focuses on all things related to Serverless, AWS services and Software Engineer practices. I've been hosting the channel since 2016.
Why did you decide to create this YouTube Channel? I originally created the channel to teach the things I was learning about Serverless to my work colleagues, and also as a tool for myself to remember - it was all new and a bit confusing! How often do you post? Between creating the channel and now, a lot has changed. I've uploaded over 250 videos on Serverless and topics related to it. They are uploaded weekly. Who is the channel aimed at? Everyone - if you are wanting to learn Serverless and get started, or you are already into Serverless and want to hear more new services and good practices, Foobar is a great place to start. I cover a real range, from content for beginners to very advanced developers. What is the usual format of your videos? Most of my videos are very hands-on - I'll dissect a problem, go over the code and share the GitHub, so you can go over topics and give it a try yourself! Any messages for people thinking of checking it out? I hope to see you there! I'd love for you to see that the FooBar Community is very active, very welcoming and we are always looking for new members! Subscribe to Marcia's YouTube Channel today. You can also check out FooBar on Twitter.
Marcia will be joining Paul Sarbinowski- SRE-SWE, Google and Alex Soto - Director of Development Experience, Red Hat at our upcoming DevOps Exchange Virtual Event.

Title: Migrating Existing Applications to Serverless
Marcia:
"You want to migrate your existing application to serverless and you don’t know where to start. This is a common problem that a lot of Architects, CTOs and Developers have, as it is very rare that we start a project from a Greenfield.
This talk will walk through different strategies to migrate an existing application to serverless. We'll look at known architectures existing challenges in applications and how we can overcome them with serverless. I'll share what I learnt when working on the migration of an existing microservices application into serverless."
Be sure to RSVP today to your local Meetup to have access to the event (London, Barcelona, Manchester, Edinburgh, Bournemouth).
