The DevOps Exchange - Toronto returns on the 25th May, hosted by Digital Media company, theScore in Toronto.
Join us for another jam-packed evening filled with talks discussing the latest developments and trends in the DevOps space as we are joined by 3 great companies; open source application delivery and infrastructure management gitops platform Kubefirst, Cloud Consultant and Google Cloud Partner SADA and finally our hosts at theScore.
We'll hear from Jimmy Cui at SADA explain how to use Infrastructure as Code to manage Virtual Machines on Cloud and how to make the Infrastructure secure and easy to use. Frédéric Harper at Kubefirst will give us an introduction to GitOps and will guide us through how using this framework will help you better collaborate with your team, deploy and iterate faster within a more secure environment. Finally, Shlomo Bielak from our hosts at theScore will be talking about CI/CD models and will be exploring what it is to have confidence for production practice..
The event will consist of 3 x 20 minutes talks starting at 7pm. Please see the agenda below and we hope to see you all there!
Agenda:
6:30pm - Arrive and drinks
Jimmy Cui, Cloud Architect @ SADA "An effective practice to manage Virtual Machines on Google Cloud by Terraform"
This talk will share tips and take aways for how to use Infrastructure as Code to manage Virtual Machines on Cloud and how to make the Infrastructure secure and easy to use.
Bio: Staff Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at SADA, Inc. Has delivered more than 20 projects in various industries covering Infrastructure modernization, migration and automation. Focuses on IaC, K8s, GCP, DevOps/SRE. 30 years of experience in Managed Service, including 15 years in Cloud/DevOps/SRE/Production Engineering. A strong believer in "Give Before You Get".
Frédéric Harper, Principal Developer @ Kubefirst "Git Shit Done, the GitOps Way"
Are you an avid Cloud user, and are now contemplating Kubernetes for your project? Did you already start to play with clusters, controllers, pods and anything K8s? In both cases, stop what you are doing right now, and let me help you in your container orchestration journey by introducing you to GitOps. I know, I know… you barely jumped the DevOps wagon, and there is already this new kid in town. Worry not my friend, because this talk will set you on the path to success for implementing Continuous Deployment (CD) for cloud native applications. You’ll learn what the hell is GitOps, and how it will help you better collaborate with your team, deploy and iterate faster within a more secure environment, while saving some costs on the road. In the end, you’ll leave with concrete steps to implement best practices to get shit done, the GitOps way!

Fred has shared his passion for technology on the stage at multitudinous events around the world. Shlomo Bielak, VP of Engineering @ theScore "DevOps Happiness - Going from confidence in production to confidence for production"
The most advanced models for CI/CD don’t account for the heroes made with the ever-changing service offerings. These heroes pay the greatest price, their personal time. Let’s change the SDLC to protect those talented individuals. Exploring what it is to have confidence for production practice.
Bio: Shlomo, theScore’s VP of Engineering is building expertise to redesign the SDLC for Engineering effectiveness and sustainability (ESG). His experience focuses on developing SRE Operating models, Continuous Verification through Observability in Non-Production, Monitoring-as-Code Service Factories, QA automation, DevOps, DevSecOps, and enabling continuous deployment to production for the enterprise.
