DevOps Exchange November - Domino's & Zühlke Engineering

The last DevOps Exchange London of 2023!

We're back on Wednesday 29th November and this time will be hosted by our good friends at Zühlke Engineering in Shoreditch.

Patrick Hyland from Domino's will kick-start the evening by taking us on a journey through the cheese-filled labyrinth of modernising Domino's pizza selling platform into a sparkling array of microservices. Come and hear their transformation story, using the power of dynamic capability theory and systems thinking to re-imagine their SRE function.

Raul Rodriguez from our hosts at Zühlke Engineering will then share his story of how attitude, knowledge and programming enabled 70 engineers code, deploy, and run workloads in AWS while building the NHS Covid-19 App Backend.

With the festive period looming, this will be our last in-person event till January and we have quite a tight capacity limit, so be sure to RSVP as soon as possible as we anticipate this will be another popular event!

Our usual format will be followed, with the 2 x 30 minute talks starting at 7pm.

Refreshments and drinks will be available on the night, courtesy of course from Domino's!

Agenda:

7:00pm: Patrick Hyland, Senior Engineering Manager @Domino's

"Pizza Platforms, Dynamic Capabilities and SRE/GenAI"

Join me on a journey through the cheese-filled labyrinth of modernising Domino's pizza selling platform into a sparkling array of microservices. Explore how this crispy transition had us using the power of dynamic capability theory and systems thinking to re-imagine our SRE function.

Bio: Patrick Hyland is a Senior Engineering Manager at Dominos UK and Ireland. Passionate about technology management and systems thinking, he has managed several complex engineering initiatives during his career, working with teams to build the engineering and delivery capabilities that drive high value technological innovation.

7:30pm: Raul Rodriguez, Lead Engineer @ Zühlke Engineering

"Preventing Deaths: DevOps' 10,000 Success"

Together we will look beyond the DevOps mindset. This is a story of how attitude, knowledge and programming enabled 70 engineers code, deploy, and run workloads in AWS while building the NHS Covid-19 App Backend. We will touch deeper into how Gaudi, a tool for build engineering and automation was key in this success story.

Bio: Raul is a Lead Engineer at Zühlke where he helps small and large businesses with digital and data/AI innovation through advanced technology. He geeks out on coffee and film photography and travels the rest of the time.

Finally, we are also now on Slack and have a dedicated DOXLON channel. Subscribe for all of the latest event updates here.

We hope to see you all there.
