DevOps Exchange London at DTX Europe 2023

Updated: Oct 17, 2023

Excel London, E16 1FR

Thursday 5th October 2023 | 2:45pm - 5:00pm

Join us at our next DevOps Exchange London event on Thursday 5th October, taking place within the DTX Europe Conference at London's Excel.

DTX Europe is the Home of Digital Transformation, with 300 exhibitors and dozens of stages from Cloud to AI, Infrastructure to Data and everything in between, the conference is a must for anyone interested in modern cutting edge technology, especially DevOps.

This year one of the keynote speakers is the one and only Kelsey Hightower, who is flying over from the US especially for the event. Kelsey is a genuine pioneer within the DevOps world, and a driving force behind Kubernetes. If you haven't seen Kelsey speak live before, I would highly recommend doing so while he is in town.

The DevOps Exchange will take the stage at 2:30pm on day 2 of the conference, Thursday the 5th of October and we have 4 great talks lined up for you.

George from Meta will explain exactly how companies at Meta's scale get prepared for disaster, how they approach this problem and how they have successfully managed to react to disasters with zero user impact over the last ten years.

Next up we have Denys from GfK, a company currently dominating the Data Analytics space who will be diving into AI Reliability Engineering and exploring the emerging challenges and SRE practices specifically tailored for AI.

We'll hear from Cloud Consultancy Temrel, who will discuss everything around self-hosting LLMs and will outline how to deploy LLMs for internal use only.

Finally, Damon from digital transformation giant Capgemini, will delve into what happens when Kubernetes creates a pod and how this differs from containers spun up directly by tools such as docker.

**In order to sign up for this event, you must RSVP but DTX also require all attendees to pre-register for the event here.

Agenda:

3:00pm: George Mamalakis, Senior Systems Engineer @ META

"Disaster Recovery @ Meta"

Have you ever wondered how companies at Meta's scale, with Data Centers spread around the world, exchanging terabits per second with billions of active users, get prepared for disasters? Join us to see how we approach this problem and how we've successfully managed to react to disasters with zero user impact over the last ten years.

3:30pm: Denys Vasyliev, Senior Software Engineer @ GfK

"AIRe - AI Reliability Engineering"

AI - should we embrace a fresh approach or continue with the traditional one? AI products and solutions have gained immense significance in enabling businesses to stay competitive. However, deploying and operating AI products within an organisation's perimeter bring a new challenges in terms of data security and reliability. To mitigate risks such as data leakage, FinOps, ethical alignment and processes to ensure the reliability it is crucial to adopt new approaches. In this context, let's explore the emerging challenges and SRE practices specifically tailored for AI.

4:00pm: Ben Stanley, Lead Engineer @ Temrel

"Self-hosting LLMs for Dummies"

Organisations want LLMs trained on their own domain information, but without using public APIs. This talk outlines how to deploy LLMs for internal use only.

4:30pm: Damon Wright, Platform Engineer @ Capgemini

"Kubernetes pods: they really are a container?"

A deep dive into what happens when Kubernetes creates a pod and how this differs from containers spun up directly by tools such as docker.

We hope that you are able to join us for this event!
