DevOps Exchange March - Toronto, Ft. Sysdig, ScaleCapacity, Adaptavist

Where to start! Firstly, I hope you all enjoyed your long Easter weekend, that seemed to pass by all too quickly.

Now that we're back into the swing of things, let's take a moment to reminisce on the fantastic evening we shared last Thursday at the DevOps Exchange. Hosted by our good friends at Adaptavist, last week’s event saw over 80 of you join us as we listened to talks from ScaleCapacity, Sysdig and Adaptavist. It was a fantastic evening where we were fortunate enough to meet many new faces to the community in addition to many new members.

Curtis Collicutt from Application Server Software company, Sysdig kick started the evening by introducing us to the mega-evolution of computing, specifically the ‘attack-space mega-evolution’. He then dived into cloud-native security tool, Falco and how it compares to Kubernetes before finishing off his talk with a demo on Falco plugins and its architecture.

Next up, we welcomed to the stage Bansi Delwadia from leading Cloud Consulting and Solutions Provider, ScaleCapacity. Bansi dived into the basics of CloudWatch and explored how to streamline monitoring in AWS environments using CloudWatch's features like metrics, logs, alarms, and dashboards.

We listened to best practices for setting up comprehensive monitoring solutions, optimizing resource utilization, and responding to anomalies, enabling proactive management and optimization for improved performance and reliability.

Last but certainly not least, Zain Mohammad from our hosts at Adaptavist gave an insightful talk around streamlining Development Testing through Automated Cloud9 environments with CI/CD Toolchains and Github. Zain spoke about the different types of environments and preview environments, specifically in SDLC.

As always, we wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who dedicated their evening to us and a huge thank you to our speakers for their informative talks and our hosts, Adaptavist for hosting. The DevOps Exchange Community is growing, so be sure to follow us on Twitter & LinkedIn to keep up to date with new locations, events and speakers.

As we mentioned at the event, we are always keen to speak to anyone who would be interested in speaking at future events or hosting a DevOps Exchange event within their office. If you would like to hear more about speaking or hosting opportunities, please email leah.smith@linuxrecruit.co.uk.
