DevOps Exchange New York City - ByteSage, Nobl9, iWiring

Join us on Tuesday 30th January for our first in-person DevOps Exchange New York City event of 2024 and hosted by digital-first homeownership company Better, where we will be joined by; dedicated Managed Service Provider ByteSage, Software Reliability platform Nobl9 and iWiring, a private Consultancy.

Dmitrii Kosolapov from ByteSage will be first up on stage and will delve into Mobiti, a software that facilitates the seamless transition of compute instances across on-premises and cloud environments with minimal effort and downtime.

Next up, Alex Hidalgo from Nobl9 will talk us through the importance of why we should all be using SLOs and error budgets and the direct impact of not using them.

Finally, we have Dan Shoop from iWiring who will talk us through how observability presentations, dashboards and time series charts benefit from incorporating multivariate data which can be used to build relationship narratives.

The event will open at 6:00pm and will consist of 3 x 20 minutes talks starting at 6:30pm.

Dmitrii Kosolapov, Founder @ ByteSage"Seamless Migration of Cloud Infrastructures: ByteSage Expertise and Mobiti Software""

The migration of all or part of a data center or cloud infrastructure is an ongoing process in most organizations. Apart from well-known cost optimization as a driving factor, this involves seeking new critical features in the new environment, changing the geography to reduce response time, adapting to new compliance requirements, and more. The transition is typically costly and time-consuming, requiring extraneous resources with people, new processes, and technologies involved.

We will delve into Mobiti, a software that facilitates the seamless transition of compute instances across on-premises and cloud environments with minimal effort and downtime. When complemented with the services of the Managed Service Provider, ByteSage, the migration of compute instances or even the entire infrastructure can be accomplished with a quick turnaround and without the need for additional hires.

Alex Hidalgo, Principal Reliability Advocate @ Nobl9

"Service Level Objectives for Everyone"

The term SLO is no longer a new one to most people and many in the industry can describe how they work; however, more of a mystery remains: how do you actually use your SLOs and error budgets? The original example from the first Google SRE book -- ship features when you have budget, focus on reliability when you don't -- is limited and doesn't even apply to most people in the industry. Join Alex Hidalgo in this talk and conversation to find out about how SLOs are important for everyone, including you!

Bio: Alex Hidalgo is the Principal Reliability Advocate at Nobl9 and author of "Implementing Service Level Objectives." During his career he has developed a deep love for sustainable operations, proper observability, and using SLO data to drive discussions and make decisions.

Dan Shoop, Senior Manager of SRE @ iWiring

"Multivariate O11y Narratives"

Learn about how observability presentations, dashboards and time series charts benefit from incorporating multivariate data which can be used to build relationship narratives that:

  • Tell a story through metrics and telemetry data

  • Ease and speed cognition of complex relationships

  • Demonstrate conditions you wish to emphasize

Using historical examples for demonstration we’ll investigate how we can use similar methods to enrich our visualizations that improve incident incident response, enrich analysis and reports, and quickly and concisely explain complex relationships.

Bio: Dan Shoop is a Systems Reliability Engineering Manager and OS polyglot with over 30 years of experience building distributed systems and infrastructure that are performant, highly-available, scalable and fault tolerant.

We look forward to seeing you!

Please note for entry you will need Government standard ID!
